Adrian Mitchell works intuitively using wood from the local landscape. Making work in green, or wet, wood, he allows each hand turned piece to dry in controlled conditions so natural distortions take place, sometimes over several months. He works intimately with each piece of wood on the lathe, often choosing material that will give interesting and unpredictable results, like wood from the fork of a tree, or a junction between trunk and branch.
Adrian Mitchell trained as a furniture maker and designer. He recently moved to Falmouth from southern Spain where he worked for several years in oak, olive and almond.
