Linda Weir lives and works in St Ives, painting 'plein air' landscapes, mainly in oils. She is known for her deeply textural paint surfaces and her distinctive style of brush work, which add action and energy to her scenes of tourist filled beaches and floral vistas of St Ives town and its harbour.
Linda was born in Manchester in 1949 and obtained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Manchester Metropolitan University, followed by a PGCE. She was then awarded an MA in Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University. Her many years of teaching experience culminated in positions at the University of Nottingham and Manchester Metropolitan University. Her work has been exhibited at the summer Royal Academy shows in 2006, 2008 and 2010, as well as West Cornwall galleries including Rainyday Gallery, and Chapel Gallery.
