"I make functional ware and home decor objects mostly on the potter's wheel.
The inspirations for my work come from a wide range of archeological artefact, everyday designed objects, the forms in the nature. I also generate ideas from materials and processes in ceramics and other crafts. I explore elegant beauty for the modern aesthetics and materiality of clay and glaze while obtaining the functions of everyday objects.
I often apply the decorating techniques that stem from Japanese and Korean traditions such as shinogi, mishima and kohiki in my work. I am equally familiar with other techniques and am acquiring a comprehensive knowledge in pottery that I teach in the classes at TOKOBO pottery and occasionally at other institutions."
