Naomi Frears’ is a painter of figures lost in thought in an internal landscape. Her intuitive way of working involves repeatedly ‘burying’ an emerging image under a new surface of paint, so that there are numerous versions of a work beneath the one we see. She exhibits extensively throughout the South West and the UK, and has featured in group shows at The Mall Galleries, London, and the Royal College of Art fair.
Naomi Frears studied at Sunderland College of Art, where she was awarded the print-making prize. She is a visiting lecturer at University College Falmouth and has been involved in leading courses at Newlyn Art Gallery. She lives and works in St. Ives and is based at Porthmeor Studios.
