Neil Canning
Painting Abstract
Dramatic moments in nature, and the pure light and elemental power of the ocean inspire Neil Canning’s prints, mixed media works and larger oils on canvas. Intense colour and dynamic forms define his work, and create a visual language that expresses the spirit, energy, space and drama of Cornwall’s spectacular coast and moorland landscape.
Neil Canning was born in Oxfordshire in 1960. Landscape has always been his major source of inspiration, and in 1997 he moved to Cornwall, where he now lives and works in the coastal village of Marazion. In 2007 he was included in the Art Now Cornwall exhibition at Tate St Ives, and in 2011 he was winner of the prestigious Discerning Eye Exhibition. He exhibits regularly at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibitions, and his work appears in private and public collections throughout the world.
