Rebecca Appleby’s sculptural ceramics are strongly defined by mark making and surface detail, and reflect the influence of both the precision surfaces of the manufacturing industry and the contrastingly sporadic details found in nature. Flat, powerful colour and the addition of linear steel structures add further energy and strength to her work.
Rebecca was born in Leeds and graduated from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA in Ceramics in 2001. She has been awarded Best Newcomer at Ceramic Art London, the Jan & David Roberts Sponsorship Prize, was shortlisted for the Henry Rothschild Bursary and is a member of the Craft Potters Association. She currently lives and works in Yorkshire.
