14th September 2024 - 11th October 2024
Jack Doherty | Weathering
On show for this year’s St Ives September Festival, celebrated potter Jack Doherty presents a new collection of his soda fired porcelain vessel forms. Jack’s wheel thrown works are made using one clay, one colouring mineral and a single firing with sodium bicarbonate. Over time his working practice has become simpler and more refined, in the belief that stripping away the unnecessary can produce work with real complexity and depth.
Artist Talk
As part of our September Festival gallery events, Jack will outline the dramatic journey his vessels take, from wheel to kiln, discussing how each action at every stage leaves its shaping and defining mark.
Time: 2.30pm Thurs 19th September, and 2.30pm Tues 24th September
Location: New Craftsman Gallery, 24 Fore St, St Ives, Cornwall, TR26 1HE
